Future Trends in Global Coaching

Future Trend: Executive Coaching

In today's rapidly changing business environment, leaders tend to be more directive, inward-looking and focused on managing the present - and this trend is not about to change anytime soon. What is even more worrying is that this leadership style is neither sustainable nor effective.

One of the future trends we see in coaching leaders, therefore, is that executive coaching will need to be particularly focused on helping leaders become more empowering, outward-looking and focused on creating the future.

Future Trend: Virtual Coaching

Another trend we see is the need for coaches who are not only multicultural and multilingual, but who are also skilled in virtual coaching - that is, providing coaching support over the phone, video, Webex platforms, Google+, etc.

Future Trend: Outsourced Network Management

More and more companies are outsourcing their coaching needs to external coaches. However, highly skilled HR professionals often end up absorbed in administrative tasks such as selecting, matching, monitoring quality, tracking, evaluating, invoicing, providing coaching supervision, etc. We see a future trend for external coaching providers who have the ability to provide their clients with all of these services plus one global network of coaches who can deliver the same high quality in all geographies.

Future Trend: Global Coaching Platform

As companies add coaching to their regular leadership development offerings, they are starting to recognise the need for a consistent approach to coaching across the organisation. Therefore, external coaching providers should be able to offer what we call a global coaching platform, featuring clear governance and policies along with standards and tools.
