Remaining authentic under pressure (November 2019)

A wonderful illustration about how easy it is for us to conform to the norm of the group or tribe we find ourselves in. Most of us have a real need to be accepted by others, and this sometimes means that we do not speak our mind if we know that others in the group do not share our beliefs. The definition of conformity: a type of social influence where a person changes their attitude or behaviour in response to real or perceived group pressure. This is a scene from the masterful movie ‘Dead Poets Society’ starring Robin Williams.
